Bounty Day is a very special event on the Norfolk Island calendar. Every year on the 8th of June, the island celebrates the anniversary of the arrival of the Pitcairn Islanders to Norfolk Island in 1856. The Pitcairners were the descendants of the infamous English sailors of Mutiny on the Bounty and the Tahitian women who began a new life on isolated Pitcairn Island. To celebrate Bounty Day join the descendants as they dress in period costume to re-enact the landing of their forbearers, sing hymns, lay wreaths and enjoy a community picnic highlighting traditional food.
