Island hop around the Atlantic on this immersive Azamara voyage. Begin in idyllic Gran Canaria and go to the old city center of Vegueta to walk down the same streets as Columbus did 500 years ago. A notoriously festive destination, Tenerife is the biggest, most well-known of Spain's Canary Islands—and the nightlife is yours to discover on a late stay. Aptly nicknamed “pretty island,” La Palma promises beautiful beaches, volcanic backdrops, and some of the world’s best stargazing.

Your next stop is Madeira, Portugal, for an overnight stay. Take a high-tech cable car up to Monte, in the hills overlooking Funchal, and descend by traditional wicker basket sledge. Next, it’s over to Morocco to explore the secluded beaches of Agadir and the vintage romance of Casablanca. Next, the Mediterranean gateway of Gibraltar welcomes you with the iconic limestone “Rock of Gibraltar” rising out of the sea. Sample some local sherry in Cadiz, Spain, then conclude your voyage in lovely Lisbon. '

Cruise Highlights

In Tenerife, travel by cable car to the top of Spain’s highest peak, and explore the cultural capital of La Laguna.

Take in the many landscapes and attractions of Gran Canaria, where a third of the island is under protection as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

From Cadiz, visit Seville, where the locals are devoted to bullfighting, flamenco, and fiesta.

Spend your days lingering in European style cafes along Agadir’s flower-lined streets, or immerse yourself in Berber culture at one of the many souks.

Walk cobbled streets to discover hand-crafted pottery, then insert yourself into the hustle and bustle of modern Casablanca with a picnic in sunny Octagon Square.

Make your way to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar (be it by cable car or foot) for stunning views, St. Michaels Cave, and Barbary macaques.

DETAILED ITIENRARY

La Palmas

For a small, quiet island, La Palma is packed with opportunities for adventure. Here, youll be greeted by a warm climate, beautiful countryside, deep forests and lovely black sand beaches.

Madeira

The "Pearl of the Atlantic" has a luxuriant landscape covered in mountains, volcanic ash, eucalyptus trees and tropical flowers. The Island, which is part of Portugal, is famous for its wine, blissful climate and village festivals.

Agadir

The "Miami of Morocco" is the ancient Portuguese port of Santa Cruz du Cap de Gué, a fortress that was conquered in 1541. Totally destroyed by the earthquake of February 1960, it has been reborn and is now a renowned beach resort with a superb bay and golden beaches.

Casablanca

A far cry from the sleepy dive town immortalized in the movie of the same name, Casablanca is a busting, brassy city and one of Africa's largest ports. Portuguese, Arab, Spanish and French influences give the city an allure unlike any other in the world.

Gibraltar

The Rock of Gibraltar towers above the surrounding countryside on a narrow peninsula linked to the end of the Iberian Peninsula by a narrow sandy isthmus. Gibraltar offers a wide array of native plant life as well as dolphins in the Bay of Gibraltar and other marine mammals which include the Pilot Whales of the Strait, Killer Whales and even larger species such as Sperm Whales. Gibraltar also has its own unique bird: the Barbary Partridge. Not to be missed is the spectacular migration of several thousand birds in a single day (15 different species), including birds of prey, storks, vultures, songbirds and seabirds. Take the "Official Rock Tour" to enjoy the rich natural history. Other attractions are the Stakis Casino, the landmark sites along the city gates and Walls of Gibraltar built by the Moors, and the village of Catalan Bay.

Cadiz

Almost entirely surrounded by water, this ancient Roman port has a history marked by conquest and destruction. Some of the city's 18th century walls still stand, and its medieval, if not dilapidated charm is evident in its crumbling Moorish structures.
