The hotel is inspired by the young Norwegian explorer Eivind Astrup (1871–1895). To reflect Norway’s youngest recipient of the St. Olav’s Order, key values such as rustic, timeless, and robust were used as a foundation for the hotel’s design. Astrup was a bold adventurer who paved the way for new discoveries—just as we aim to do for our guests.

At the heart of the hotel is the inviting lobby, featuring a fireplace, a large lounge sofa, and panoramic windows overlooking Longyearbyen’s surroundings. Here, you’ll also find a polar library, refreshing drinks at the bar, and a calm atmosphere—perfect for reflecting on the day’s Arctic experiences.
